Warding Off | Monika Dorniak

Intertwining traditional and experimental folkloristic music and poetry, this show features the female and non-binary Ukrainian artists Mavka, Одарка, Maryna Makarenko and pagan songs from the Polyphony Projekt.

Introducing auditive psychosomatic rituals that are used in supporting resistance and healing, the sonic multi-layered hour introduces slavic cultures that are freed from patriarchal and imperial forces.

This episode is dedicated to Monika's grandmother Irena who fled Ukraine during the Soviet occupations in the 20th century, and all of those who are currently affected by the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
