SMS Radio: Steve Albini | SAGAN & Carl Suspect

With SAGAN, and Carl Suspect

SAGAN invites Carl Suspect to SMS Radio to deep dive together into Steve Albini's work, audio engineer, post-rock musician and all-round cultural icon.

Throughout his long career, Albini led influential bands like Shellac and Big Black while significantly shaping the alt-rock scene as a recording engineer. Since the late '80s, he has worked with numerous underground favorites, including PJ Harvey, Low, Fugazi, Mogwai, Pixies, Ty Segall, and Sunn O))), as well as recording mainstream hits like Nirvana's In Utero and Joanna Newsom's Ys.

He is famously known for his preference for traditional recording methods. The liner notes of Big Black's iconic 1987 LP Songs About Fucking reflect his philosophy: "The future belongs to analog loyalists. Fuck digital."

Steve Albini transformed music and his titanic sonic legacy will remain forever relevant.
