We are running a repeat of one of our older episodes yet to be heard by the Refuge Worldwide audience.
In this episode our focus is detention. Detention centres are violent manifestations of the UK’s border but internally ignored. Detention doesn’t make for a good press photo like the small boats in the English Channel. Journalists rarely get access to immigration removal centres and grabbing a good media image in sealed places isn’t easy. But because detention is hidden, and as I have researched for this episode, it is on the rise, it needs our attention. We also interview Kevin from Hear Me Out, a charity which brings music into detention centres and the music played throughout is from their back catalogue.
