An audacious force in genre-defying music, Montreal-based Swedish vocalist and composer Erika Angell is blissfully unaware of the concept of stretching oneself too thin. Her voice, depicted by Under The Radar as splitting the difference ‘between the divine and demonic, skillfully unhinged’, has embellished avant-garde scenes across continents. Known for her work with the art-rock group Thus Owls, and the New Music trio Beatings Are In The Body, as well as collaborations with the likes of Patrick Watson and Leonard Cohen, Angell now steps forward with her solo debut ‘The Obsession With Her Voice’. For COSMOS, Erika compiled a mesmerizing selection of her favourite Montréal-based artists, including SUUNS, Jerusalem in my Heart, Backxwash, and more.
